Working with archives and hidden files

By default, the archive looks like a regular file with a corresponding icon (often a lightning bolt or a stack of books). However, when you click on it, the interface may offer two options: “Extract” or “Open as folder.”

If you select the mode of viewing the archive without unpacking, the explorer temporarily mounts its contents, and the user sees an interface identical to a regular folder. The only difference is that the path in the address bar will contain the name of the archive, and the icons of the files inside may be translucent, indicating that they are located inside a compressed container.
